Coaching

AxJ members help each other with applying ethnographic methods to their story topics via volunteer coaching. Coaching is only open to members.

Find a coach

Use the member directory to search for “coaches.” Click on a coach profile to learn more about them and to send them a message for more info. Coaches typically offer help with your story topic via email or a 15-minute virtual meeting.

Be a coach

Are you a journalist interested in coaching anthropologists looking to get their work and research in the media?

Are you an anthropologist interested in coaching journalists who want to employ ethnographic methods in their reporting?

Members can sign up to coach others via their member profile.

How it works:

  • Designate yourself as a coach (either at time of membership sign up, or afterwards by editing your profile to include the label “coach”)
  • You’ll receive an email from AxJ with information about coaching.
  • “Coach” will appear on your profile in the member directory.
  • Members can search the directory for coaches and contact you by email to set-up a coaching session
  • Coach is a volunteer designation.
  • You can change your “coach” status at any time.
